Add widgets to your Home Screen
The official Weather Channel app is a solid iOS weather app alternative on iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. This app features detailed information on location-specific weather that's updated hourly with forecasts made available for up to 15 days in the future. Open Weather app to view the weather of a location as usual Tap the little list icon in the bottom corner to view multiple locations What makes this particularly helpful is that the backgrounds shown behind the location and weather information will continue to update according to the time of day and conditions, providing a visual cue for what.
- From the Home Screen, touch and hold a widget or an empty area until the apps jiggle.
- Tap the Add button in the upper-left corner.
- Select a widget, choose from three widget sizes, then tap Add Widget.

You can also add widgets from Today View. From Today View, touch and hold a widget until the quick actions menu opens, then tap Edit Home Screen. Drag the widget to the right edge of the screen until it appears on the Home Screen, then tap Done.

- Scroll down to select a widget, then choose from three widget sizes.

Edit your widgets
With iOS 14, you can configure your widgets. For example, you can edit the Weather widget to see the forecast for your current location or a different location. Here’s how:
- Touch and hold a widget to open the quick actions menu.
- Tap Edit Widget .
- Make your changes, then tap outside of the widget to exit.
You can also move your widgets around to put your favorites where they're easier to find. Just touch and hold a widget until it jiggles, then move the widget around on the screen.
Use widget stacks
With iOS 14, you can use widget stacks to save space on your Home Screen and in Today View. You can use Smart Stacks or create your own widget stacks.
Create a Smart Stack
A Smart Stack is a pre-built collection of widgets that displays the right widget based on factors like your location, an activity, or time. A Smart Stack automatically rotates widgets to show the most relevant information throughout the day. Here's how to create a Smart Stack:
- Touch and hold an area on your Home Screen or in Today View until the apps jiggle.
- Tap the Add button in the upper-left corner.
- Scroll down and tap Smart Stack.
- Tap Add Widget.
Create your own widget stacks
- Touch and hold an app or empty area on the Home Screen or Today View until the apps jiggle.
- Drag a widget on top of another widget. You can stack up to 10 widgets.
- Tap Done.
Edit a widget stack
- Touch and hold the widget stack.
- Tap Edit Stack. From here, you can reorder the widgets in the stack by dragging the grid icon . You can also turn on Smart Rotate if you want iOS to show you relevant widgets throughout the day. Or swipe left over a widget to delete it.
- Tap when you're done.
You need iOS 14 to use Smart Stacks or create your own widget stacks.
Remove widgets
- Touch and hold the widget that you want to remove.
- Tap Remove Widget.
- Tap Remove again to confirm.

First introduced with OS X Tiger in 2005, Dashboard organizes Mac widgets — program shortcuts and precursors to apps that we are all more familiar with. Many of these widgets still come as part of the standard package with every Mac and new operating system.

Dashboard is useful to keep close at hand. Mac widgets include contacts (which you can sync with iOS contacts), to calculators, flight trackers to stock market information, the weather app, games, and a wide range of extra tools you can add when you tap the + icon in the lower left of the Apple dashboard.

Mac Dashboard shortcuts
Since MacOS Yosemite was launched, Dashboard is something you may have to enable to use. On Macs using an older operating system it is something that automatically sits in the Dock.
To enable Dashboard:
- Go to System Preferences > Mission Control
- Click the Dashboard pop-up menu

Here it gives you options for how Dashboard appears:
- As Space: Dashboard can inhabit its own area of your Desktop. Get to it when you press the keyboard shortcut for Dashboard, or move between spaces. There are a few other ways you can use space on your Desktop which we will outline below.
- As Overlay: Dashboard occupies a permanent space on your Desktop (which you can switch off via Mission Control).

Now that Dashboard is enabled, there are several ways you can access it (and set shortcut to give you access quicker). Access Dashboard through one of the following shortcuts:
- Use Launchpad > Open > Dashboard.
- Using Siri. Open Siri in the Menu bar and ask “Open Dashboard”, or something similar.
- If you have set Dashboard as a space, use a Trackpad to access. Simply swipe right with three fingers.
- In Mission Control Preferences, set a Mouse or keyboard shortcut; then use that to access Dashboard. Run ipad apps on my mac.
Now you can use any of the widgets you need, and add any as needed using the Add button ‘+’ in the lower-left corner of the screen. Remove them using the ‘-‘ minus symbol.
How to use Dashboard as a web monitor
- Go to the website(s) you want to monitor. Choose File > Open in Dashboard.
- The page or website will grey out, opening a purple border around part of the page you want to monitor.
- Now you can adjust the size of the border around the web source.
- Tap ‘Add’ and it will take you to the Dashboard with the source website pulling the information through to your Mac, making a shortcut to a specific website for quicker monitoring.
How to close Dashboard on Mac
When you want to close dashboard, either click anywhere on the screen and the widgets will fade, or press the escape key, or use the mouse, trackpad or keyboard shortcut to close. Espn nba app mac free.
